TITANIC model by Rich April

Information by Rich A.

I painted all of the insides of the decks and walls black so that light wouldn't show through the plastic. This takes extra work, but the end result is worth it. I then sprayed the inside of the model white to help reflect the light. I drilled out all the portholes and cut away the interior of the decks to allow the light to penetrate to the top decks of the model. I used a 12" flourescent light strip and taped it to the bottom center of the hull. Flourescent light doesn't look quite as nice as incandescent light or fiber optics, but I chose it for simplicity and it won't produce a lot of heat either.

I used testors gloss dark red spray for the hull. I then applied a dull coat and it looks great. To get the yellow stripe, I taped it with masking tape and used testors bright yellow. I then touched up where the paint ran under the tape. With enough patience, this method works rather well. For the "White Star Buff" funnel color, I stuck with the formula that the instructions provide. However, I believe I added some extra yellow to the formula.

Everything else was done consistent with the instruction manual.
