New visitors

Welcome to my page. If this is your first time here, please read on. This page covers all information pertaining to the Titanic model (mostly the 1/350 scale kit), but there is some information on the 1/570 scale kit. Most new people to this page have a first response to e-mail me with their questions. Before you e-mail me, I urge you to read through the many message boards. There you will find just about any answer you are looking for. I also have an updated FAQ section. Although I am very happy to help out anyone that e-mails, I will warn you that I get a lot of e-mail from my page. Sometimes it may take a while to get back with you. If you need an answer right away, you should go through my page completely (trust me, you won't regret it). You'll be surprised at what you'll find, anything from gold medal details to how to correct the missing doors on the model. Here is a brief FAQ to answer some of your basic questions...

I have questions about scratch building a model, who should a talk to?
There are a few people who have sent me photos of their scratchbuilt model. You can see them here. If you have any questions on this subject, your best bet is to post to the message board.

What type of paint should I use?
Take a look at my tips page for this answer

Whats with this new 1/400 scale kit? Will there be a 1/350 scale anymore?
Yes, there will always be a 1/350 scale kit. The 1/400 comes from the Academy kit company(wich is based in Korea). Minicraft and Academy broke up earlier this year.

Well, that should cover it for now. If you don't see your answer here, the message boards are a good place to start, there's six(6) of them. They contain almost 2,000 single messages all together. Take a look at the Board Archive. The page is currently on its 8th board. If its photos your looking for, this page has plenty. To view them, go back to the home page and click on the button labeled 'Titanic built by others'. If you have photos of your model you would like to put on this page, you can e-mail me the photos or I can give you my snail mail address so I can scan the photos. I hope I've covered everything. If after you have searched through the page and still have not found the answer, the best thing to to do is to post a message with your question to the message board. You will probably get a much faster reply, plus there are some very good people that regular the board that know much more than I do about the actual ship. also avaliable on this page are some questions that we were good enough to have answered by Ken Marschall (from books such as 'Titanic: An Illustrated History', and 'Inside the Titanic'. The questions cover anything from the location of the vents to how to make White Star Buff.

REFERENCE MATERIALS - I get a lot of e-mail about what books to buy. Heres a small list of books you can get for good reference:

  • James Cameron's Titanic -- Douglas Kirkland(Photographer), et al; Paperback

  • Titanic : An Illustrated History -- Donald Lynch; Hardcover

  • Inside the Titanic (Giant Cutaway Book) -- Ken Marschall(Illustrator), et al; Hardcover

  • Anatomy of the Titanic -- Tom McCluskie / Hardcover / Published 1998

  • The Discovery of the Titanic -- Robert D. Ballard, Rick Archbold / Hardcover / Published 1998

  • Exploring the Titanic -- Robert D. Ballard, Ken Marschall (Illustrator) / Paperback / Published 1993

Or at Robert's TITANIC page, which have a very good set of plans.

All of these books can be found at Amazon.com or at your local book store.
