This is the 1/350 scale Academy Titanic Kit. I started building in 1997, and completed it in 1999. It took me
exactly 1 year and 7 months to complete. I used Loren Perry's photoetched brass detailing kit, and Duane Fowler's
decals. All of the rigging is music wire, it is painted in Testors Classic Black, Testors Dark Red, Testors Wood Tan
for the decking, Testors Classic White, And Testors Color ( Gelb ) for the funnels. Between the 550 kit parts, the
photo-etched parts, and all the scratched-built parts, I would say that my ship contains over 700 parts. It is
lighted... I used 2 "AURA" light bars, and permanently installed them in the hull. They claim to have 40,000 hours
of light life. All of the portholes have been drilled out by hand, and backed with yellow acetate plastic sheet,
which gives a beautiful feeling of life whem lit. The Well Deck at the very point of the bow was scratched-built.
The base that the ship sits on is Solid Red Oak, stained in Golden Oak. The brass pedastiles are actually brass
ceiling fan chain pulls, with brass backplates used for wooden drawers. The entire glass enclosure was made by a
friend ( Brian Sigley ) whose trade and business is Stained-Glass. This model was also featured in " Fine Scale
Modeler " magazine in 2001, ( Gallery Section ).
