Simon Cote's model

_
I’m a car modeler and building a ship model represented quite a challenge for me. Building process went through intense working periods of time and weeks away from the bench. Well, it’s all over now after 2 ½ years and what is left is a lot of pride at watching the result.

I used Tom modelworks railings and I think it adds a lot of realism to the model.

Funnels wire are made from dark flat grey painted thin floral wires I got from local florist.

Staircases skylights are made from greeting cards cover box « mica ». Lattices are Canadian Tire white « car stripes » material, painted flat white, cut to fit and glued in place.

Benches are kit originals reshaped with a mototool in order to manage space under each bench and the deck.

All lines are flat grey painted 5 lbs fishing line.

Compass tower is scratchbuilt.

Lighting has been made with 2 bulbs inside the hull and a lot of fiber optic for deck lamps. (I can tell you that eliminating light leaks between decks structures is a lot of work !)

Ropes on deck are from original kit line that I soaked in 1 :1 white glue-water mixture, formed as desired, dried and painted flat brown.
