This is one of the TRMA's proudest finds, as this pipe has been misrepresented in every Titanic resource we have seen. This pipe was an awning rafter. It had nothing to do with ventilation or the "Gibbs" extractor ventilation head. It was merely attached to the top of it. It protruded forward and attached to the center stokehold duct just aft of the #1 funnel.
In the other picture taken of Olympic's fitment, which differed a bit from Titanic in the rafter's length, one can see the canvas in use.
