Mystery of the Nurses

Hi All:

Question - Where was the photograph above taken?

It has been thought for a while that it was taken in the B-Deck port promenade, looking aft towards the partition/doorway that leads to the port private promenade.

I don't think that is right anymore. Looking at the deck plans, you should be able to see the bulkhead on the left turn inwards somewhere just aft of the clearly visible expansion joint. Yet it doesn't. In fact, the distance between the expansion joint and the partition is just too short in my opinion.

Either the photograph was taken somewhere else, or the bulkhead configuration of Britannic differed from that shown on the builder's plans (unlikely). I doubt it is on A-Deck, because there aren't enough people and the width of the promenade just doesn't look right. It could be taken the other way round, which would mean the nurses are on the starboard side and the partition is the weather wall just aft of the crew staircase. Again I doubt this because the space between the expansion joint and the partition is simply too short.

Any thoughts?

Russ
