  About me:

Modelers image

Have been ship modeling and playing with toy boats since about age 8. 'Started with the Revell SS United States, and now have most non-military ship kits out there. My interest in Titanic started in the late 50s (watching 'A Night to Remember' on TV), and progressed to Lusitania by my teens.

I grew up on the banks of the Ohio River (southern Indiana, USA), so I was on the river towboats and steamboats early on. For years, I just scratchbuilt river subjects, but after moving to New England (NE USA), I got back into salt water vessels. Favorites are liners and tankers, although I dabble a little in dry cargo and US Coast Guard vessels.

Why I like ocean liner models:

Interested in the more peaceful applications of sailing. I've often dreamed of what it would have been like to take passage on the SS United States, or SS AMerica, or Titanic, or Lusitania, etc. My interest is more in the ships and their structure than in passenger games and the like. If a passenger, I'd likely spend some time hanging around the engine room and bridge, as much as they'd allow.
