  About me:

Modelers image

My screen name on this site and others is "PJ" because that is a long time nickname. I have been building models since the early 50s. I grew up in Grand Island New York, which is in the middle of teh Niagara River, above Niagara Falls, between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. A lot of Great Lakes Freighters used to go down the River to unload coal at the electrical plant across the river and ore at the steel and cast-iron works. We also had unlimited hydroplane racing every summer until the boats got too fast for the width of the course, lots of small pleasure craft and Chris Craft cruisers. Eventually, I went to see on a number of "haze gray yachts" off the coast of Vietnam and elsewhere in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. I am a Reserve Commander (retired) now. In a third career, after a stint in the aerospace industry working with Tomahawk development and chasing government research contracts, I am a civil attorney [you probably think that is an oxymoron, primarily dealing with construction defects. I have a lot of projects on the back-burner, including nearly everything I need to build the Minicraft Titanic. I live in Valencia, California, which is north of Los Angeles and the site of Magic Mountain. I recently moved there, so am clearing off the workbench in my new garage and hope to be "cutting plastic" soon.

Why I like ocean liner models:

The Revell United States (original issue) was one of my first plastic kits. I have always loved being near the water and real ships. I now have a couple of the reissued kits and GMM 1:600 p.e. to re-do the "Big 'U'" as she should be.
