Tom Rice's cut-a-way Entex model

Added on 9/30/2003

The model I used for my experiment is right out of the 1975 box. Because of that, it is not very accurate. It did serve the purpose though. I got the foldout for the cut away from Dr. Ballards "Exploring The Titanic." I had a color copy made at a local print shop (I think it was kinko's). I didn't want to damaged the book. That way if I made a mistake I still had the one in the book to copy again. The color foldout is very close to the scale of the model. It was close enough for me but others may wish to make it a bit larger. I do not know what the current availability of this book is but I believer the Titanic Historical Society has a black and white copy for about $10.00 It is listed as a cutaway view of the Olympic, I believe.

After copying the foldout I used rubber cement and glued it to a whitepiece of school poster board. The kind you use at science fairs when you were a kid. I carefully cut out the section I would be using. There was very little to do to the model except remove the port side 1st classs promenade encloser. I just lined up the cutaway to about the best place it was suppose to be and glued it down. Again, I used rubber cement. I had done this back in 1985 so please don't e to tought on me for any inaccuracies. If you like the ideas , please let me know. I would like to try and use better photo's.
