"Raie the Titanic"
The first model based on the 1980 film

From the creator, Jonathan Smith...

"I am a huge fan of the 1980 movie RAISE THE TITANIC. After seeing some photos on the net, taken a few years back of the model used in the film (I have some original photo's taken on the set in 1979), and seeing what terrible condition the 55ft model was in, I decided to construct the RAISE THE TITANIC replica my self using the 1:350th kit.

Using some 10 actual photographs taken of the huge 55ft model sometime in 1979 during the making of the movie. Intotal, it has taken 30 hours to build the replica.

The kit as you can see from the attached scan is about 70% finnished. Just like the film model, I have scratch built the 2 huge cowling vents that sit each side of the forward mast along with the 1 tall vent near the forward captans. the 2nd stack has been broken down with brass pipes and twisted brass ladders fitted. The whole deck area's of the model will covered with fine grade sand and coloured to have a MUD effect.

At the moment all that is left to do is fit the few strands of rigging and age the wreck/model.

I am very pleased with how it has come along, and having some 9 photo's taken on the set of the huge model helps with fine details on my version. I have got my version as close as possible.

I hope you like it. This is the 3rd RAISE THE TITANIC I have built in 2 years. To me, its different as your wonderful site has many Titanic kits on of her as the wreck or 1912."
