The first photo shows the completed bulkhead framework for the bow, made from the cardboard that backs pads of lined yellow paper. The second photo shows the black cardstock hull plating in progress. I found that 1.5 cm. wide strips of cardstock are reluctant to follow the compound curves of the flared bow while still butting up cleanly against each other. I stabilized the edges of the strips by tucking pieces of Scotch tape behind the joints, using one half of a pair of tweezers to rub the sticky tape against the inside of the cardstock. To save time, I built only the deck housing and water deflector on the forecastle. The rest of the equipment (anchor chains, windlasses, cleats, etc.) I merely suggested by drawing them with a black Sharpie pen instead of building them up in three dimensions. Hey, when you have only 10 days of spare time to complete the thing . . .
