Morten Jensen's Olympic |
Here are the photos of my finished Olympic-model. At last it was finished! Almost
The model used is the 1/600 Academy Titanic, together with GMM brass-parts. I have tried to add as much Olympic-details as possible. One of the hardest and most difficult things was the changing of the A-deck promenade-sides. The windows where removed, and styrene was added. Another tricky thing was how to get all the lifeboats. I had some spare-parts from an old Revell-kit, and used a lifeboat form that model as a master for all the others. I used Woodland silicon-rubber to make a moulding.
The funnels are painted with Humbrol #7, and have been given real soot on the tops to add realism. For the rust, I used a powder that is actually real crushed rust. You cant get a more realistic color!
Some Olympic-details added:
A-deck sides, full set of davits and lifeboats, extra cowl-vent and a straight chimney pipe on the forecastle, new forward bulkhead on B-deck with no doors, new radio-room and machine room on aft boat deck, details added on swan-necks, platform on bridge-roof, lowered stripe on hull and the list goes on
The bridge-front and wing cabs are build form scratch, and some other details was also upgraded. It is still missing the name and some flags, but I am working on it.
