I would like to say thank you to everyone who are part of this very informative site. The fine work and knowledge that each person contributes here is astonishing. I am surprised to have won first place in the 1/350 scale class I category and thrilled to be included with the other competitors who have submitted their fine models.

Before I started this project, I studied many Titanic photos, books, web sites and any other media I could get my hands on for reference. Construction on my Titanic began November 28, 2000 and ended November 24, 2001, or approximately 825 hours total time. Most of this model was scratch built except for major design features. In the beginning, I did not have an airbrush so the paint texture may not be to scale. I purchased one at a later date. I searched for every support product that was available for the 1/350 Titanic. Included were brass photo etch parts, decals, approximately 1,300 fiber optic strands, and many LED’s for direct and indirect lighting. I purchased the deck decals from Bruce and installed them over a coat of desert sand with dry brushed highlights of brown, gray, wood, and cream to simulate the wood grain. The hardest part of construction was #3 funnel assembly. I used .010" brass rod for the water and steam pipes. It was difficult to install and position the pipes so they lined up in the holes on the tank room roof without destroying the surrounding area. Another tricky area was attaching the ropes to each block and tackle pulley on the lifeboat davits. It is very tedious work but they produce a realistic effect. If I made a mistake during construction, or if something did not look right after it was installed, it was corrected (If I could correct it). There were many mistakes made during the assembly process. Most were corrected and some are still visible.

For those of you who whish to see additional photos, I have created a website for you. On the website, you will find hundreds of photos of this ship along with images of the one currently under construction. http://rmstitanicminiatures.tripod.com/
