First and most important, you will need to do three things first, research,
research, research. We can't tell you how important this is. There are
several way to get started in this erea. First is to get your hands on some
good books with good photos and written material. There you should read
up on some of the articles located on this page.
We would also recommend that you read through the various articles located
on this page in the articles section
and the How to section
Probably the biggest question you have to ask yourself is what scale do
you want to make your model in. This all depends on what kind of space you
have and budget you have to spend. The larger you make it, the more space
and money you'll need.
The most recommended sizes are 1:192, 1:100 or 1:144. The reason
being is that there are some very good(and accurate) plans set up to make
a model of these sizes. All of wich can be found at Robert
Hahns site. At this site, you'll also find find a pre-molded hull in
the scale of 1:144 along with photoetch sets to go along with it. You can't
get much more of a better head start than that.
Another good place to start would be the TRMA
forum. There you can ask any question you might have in building a scratchbuilt
model. Quite a few of the current members have built one already and would
be happy to answer any question you may have on the subject.
More information to added soon..
