Terms and Conditions for Titanic-Model.com Board:

    Dear modelers,

This new FAQ is designed to help new people adjust to the board and its environment. This is not directed to any one person, but we felt it was needed to explain what this board is about and to answer your most basic questions. we would first like to cover one issues:

Issue 1 - What this board is for and not for:

    • a. It is for the discussion of Titanic modeling, it is not for the discussion of any other models(with the exception of liners related to Titanic. Such ships would include Olympic, Britannic and other White Star and H&W-built ships, and certain other non-H&W ships of the period which may provide information regarding design details or features of relevance to the primary topic.

    • b. It is for the discussion of Titanic's structure, arrangements and appearance; it is not for the discussion of arrangements and appearance of other ships, again with the exception of period ships which may provide information of relative to the primary topic.

    • c. It is for the discussion of how many millions of rivets are on the titanic, it is not for the discussion of how many millions can be made in a year using bulk e-mail (SPAM WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE!!!).

    • d. This is not a usernet newsgroup, everything under the sun is not up for discussion. we don't mean to be harsh, but most of the regulars (yes, there are long term regulars here. And they probably out number the new people, but most new people become good regulars) use this board as an escape from the usual newsgroups. They know that when they post here, they will get only the best of service and quality. Please help us keep it that way.

A few musts before you post:

#1 No personal messages to other posters. If the message is intended to be read by only one other person, send them an email. Everyone's email address can be accessed by clicking the poster's name in the message header. Of course, if you are expecting an e-mail from someone, you must enter your e-mail into the e-mail box before posting. If the person does not provide an email address in his post, a single "Hey Joe, please contact me via email." will suffice. However, "HEY JOE, CHECK YOUR EMAIL!!! I JUST SENT YOU SOMETHING!!" is NOT acceptable. Another solution to personal posts is in the next section below.

#2 Topics should be of interest to the majority of visitors to the board. While occasional off-topic exchanges are to be expected and are OK, it the responsibility of the poster to decide if the conversation is getting out of hand and take it elsewhere. We reserve the right to remove off-topic posts at our discretion, INCLUDING inflammatory remarks.

A SMALL F.A.Q. TO ANSWER SOME OF YOUR QUESTIONS:

    • Q1: This is my first time to the board, what should I talk about?

    • A1: We would recommend not posting at all at first. Stick around and read the current messages. Read the archive, there's enough information if that to last you about five years. Once you have a good feeling about what goes on the board, post the question. This is where reading the archive comes in handy, there's a good chance your question has been talked about before. If it hasn't, go ahead and post it. Just keep the first three issues from above in mind before you post.

    • Q2: I have something I would like to advertise, can I post it?

    • A2: Only if its Titanic modeling related. Example: You have a model to sell, you have a Titanic model web page to promote. Do not post messages about your non-Titanic related site, if you would like to place a link on my page, please contact me. As mentioned above, NO SPAM ALLOWED, IT WILL BE DELETED.

    • Q3: Something I read upset me, should I flame back?

    • A3: Absolutely not. Every now and then, someone can get a little heated, it happens to the best of us. If you see something that you don't agree with, try to respond to it in a mature way. If its about some Titanic detail, do some research, and make sure you now what your talking about before you respond. If its a direct hit to you, e-mail us and we will review the situation and remove it right away if needs removing.

    • Q4: How do I find out what people are talking about on the board?

    • A4: Research, research, research!! We can't stress that enough. There are some great books out there that provide good technical information about the Titanic. Yes, the discussions on this board can get pretty deep, but with plenty of good research, you to can join in on the fun.

    • Q5: What's your procedures for deleting posts?

    • A5: From time to time, an off-topic post may occur, what do we consider off-topic? Read the above 'issue 1'. Another reason we may delete a post is because others on the board requested it. we will delete any post that gets more than four requests (not including me). You may also see posts disappear because the original poster wanted me to. Either because he/she made an error or decided they didn't want it posted. If you have any further questions about this, please feel free to e-mail me about it.

Don't test this feature for the fun of it, you won't like the response you get from other board members.
